President of Russia Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport at the Olympic Synchronised Swimming Centre.

The meeting focused on national goals and strategic tasks concerning the development of physical fitness and sport in the Russian Federation until 2024 and beyond.

Participants discussed creating conditions for engaging all categories and groups of the public in regular exercise, upgrading sports facilities, improving the training of athletic reserves and increasing the competitiveness of Russian athletes.

Putin Visits Olympic Synchronised Swimming Centre

President Vladimir Putin of Russia visited the Olympic Synchronised Swimming Centre of Anastasia Davydova located in the Park of Legends sports and entertainment quarter in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin inspected an information stand on the development of physical culture and sports in Moscow and looked around the Olympic Synchronised Swimming Centre. The centre’s equipment and technical infrastructure comply with the Olympic standards, and the system of training combines traditional Russian methods with innovative learning techniques.

Russia’s junior national teams started training at the centre and regional championships were first held there in 2018. There are 116 children at the Youth of Moscow Olympic Reserve School in the Olympic Synchronised Swimming Centre of Anastasia Davydova.

In addition, Vladimir Putin met with participants of the 2019 Winter Universiade held in Krasnoyarsk and congratulated Russia’s student team on their victory.

Putin Launches Kharasaveyskoye Gas Field

President Vladimir Putin of Russia has launched via videoconference the full-scale development of the Kharasaveyskoye gas and condensate field.

The Kharasaveyskoye field is located in the Yamal Peninsula north of the Bovanenkovskoye field, predominantly onshore and partly in the Kara Sea. The field is classified as unique due to its enormous gas reserves, which amount to 2 trillion cubic meters. Production is scheduled to begin at the field in 2023 with a design capacity of 32 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

Since 20 percent of the reserves are located offshore, horizontal wells will be drilled from onshore to produce gas from the offshore part of the deposit.

The project provides for the construction of a comprehensive gas treatment unit, a booster compressor station and clusters of producing gas wells together with transport and energy infrastructure.

Kharasaveyskoye already has a utility system with accommodation for shift workers and an auxiliary power station.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the 1st Operational Police Regiment of the Interior Ministry Main Department for Moscow at the invitation of female mounted and tourist police officers ahead of International Women’s Day.

The President was informed about the history, equipment, performance and duties of the mounted and tourist police.

After that Vladimir Putin watched an equestrian show, met a retired police lieutenant colonel, Great Patriotic War veteran Oraz Mamraliyev and talked to the women serving in the regiment.

The President extended his greetings to the female police officers on International Women's Day and noted that the unit in which they serve is unique. There are more than 800 officers in the regiment, one-third of them women.

Vladimir Putin presented an Orlov Trotter to the regiment. They reciprocated by giving the President a horseshoe for luck.

The 1st Operational Regiment was established to maintain order and public safety during major events and to patrol the city’s park belt on horseback, and also as a rapid deployment unit to deal with violations of public order by groups of people. The regiment comprises the 1st and 2nd Mounted Police Battalions and the 3rd Tourist Police Battalion.
