During a joint press conference with Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin confirmed, once again, Russia's readiness to continue gas transit through Ukrainian territory even after the completion of the contract in 2024, however, this will depend on the technical condition of the Ukrainian gas pipeline.
Regarding Nord Stream 2, the Russian President also reiterated that this is a purely commercial project, which is beneficial for the end European consumer, since it is 2000 kilometers shorter than the Ukrainian route.
