Russian Defence Recorded Increased Military Activity By US, NATO In Black Sea

The Russian Defence Ministry has recorded increased military activity by the US and its NATO allies in the Black Sea region. Above all, the intensity of naval, air and maritime reconnaissance and strategic aviation activities has increased, Major General Igor Konashenkov, official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry report on Thursday.

Four NATO reconnaissance aircraft have been detected and escorted by Russian Aerospace Forces anti-aircraft radars in the past 24 hours.

The U-2S, RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft and two P-8A "Poseidon" base patrol aircraft flew over the northwestern and central Black Sea airspace.

Between 12pm and 3pm, a British Air Force RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft attempted to approach the state border of the Russian Federation near the south-western part of the Crimean peninsula. A Russian Aerospace Force Su-30 fighter jet was lifted from the duty force to monitor its action.

At a distance of about 30 kilometres from the Russian border, a Russian Su-30 fighter jet approached the reconnaissance plane, after which the British plane changed course away from the Russian border.

The USS "Porter" and the staff ship "Mount Whitney" are now continuing to the west of the Black Sea.

The US ships are monitored by the cruiser "Moskva" and the frigate "Admiral Essen" of the Black Sea Fleet.

The Russian Defence Ministry regards the military activity of the US and its allies in the Black Sea region as a study of the anticipated theatre of war in case Ukraine prepares a power solution to the conflict in the southeast.

This unscheduled exercise near our borders is a completely unprovoked aggressive action by the US, which poses a threat to regional security and strategic stability.
